GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 768633
Ability to view and change minimized state through Activities Overview
Last modified: 2021-07-05 14:29:29 UTC
I find the Activities Overview very useful as especially when I have many windows open I can just easily go into it to switch between or close some. However there is something I feel is lacking there: the ability to change the minimized state of the windows. What I would really like to see would be the ability to: 1. Differentiate between windows which are minimized and which are not 2. To be able to easily change whether a window is minimized or not as easily as with closing them I don't know about the second request, but I've definitely seen others asking for the first. I am running Ubuntu GNOME 16.04 with GNOME 3.20 and I would really love to see these features in the next GNOME version. I initially made this request here, but thought I should also do so upstream: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-gnome/+bug/1600595
(In reply to cooks.go.hungry from comment #0) > 1. Differentiate between windows which are minimized and which are not We used to make minimized windows slightly translucent in the overview, but the designers didn't like it ...
Could the issue not be put to the designers so that they can decide on something they would like? Perhaps the minimized windows could be grouped or something and have a slightly different border? I don't know, but just something would be nice.
GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org. As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately quite limited so not every ticket can get handled). If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent and supported software version, then please follow https://wiki.gnome.org/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines and create a new ticket at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-shell/-/issues/ Thank you for your understanding and your help.
