GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 768315
Contacts Won't Save Notes
Last modified: 2017-08-12 11:26:01 UTC
Created attachment 330789 [details] Trying to save a four letter note failed 1) Contacts won't save notes. 2) When window is not maximized, the Google map icon continues off the bottom edge of the window 3) When window is maximized, the Google map icon doesn't center into the placeholder square it should be contained in. 4) When window is moved, the Google map icon doesn't stay contained into the placeholder square it should be contained in. 5) The following error messages shoe every time I simply start the application: ** (gnome-contacts:7707): WARNING **: contacts-store.vala:335: Unable to check accounts caps The name org.freedesktop.Telepathy.AccountManager was not provided by any .service files (gnome-contacts:7707): folks-WARNING **: backend-store.vala:434: Error preparing Backend 'telepathy': The name org.freedesktop.Telepathy.AccountManager was not provided by any .service files (gnome-contacts:7707): GLib-GIO-CRITICAL **: g_action_print_detailed_name: assertion 'g_action_name_is_valid (action_name)' failed (gnome-contacts:7707): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_application_set_accels_for_action: assertion 'detailed_action_name != NULL' failed 6) The following message appears when I enter text into the Notes field: (gnome-contacts:7707): Gtk-WARNING **: gtkgrid.c:318: invalid child property id 2 for "top-attach" of type 'GParamInt' in 'GtkGrid' 7) Durning my testing on trying to determine how the Notes bug was working, I was able to save a note with four letters. But I couldn't save another note until after deleting the one that saved. But mostly, I simply cannot save any note.
This program is so buggy it's unusable. This isn't the kind of polish I'm used to even with Fedora.
I verified that the bugginess of the placement of the google map icon in the square place holder was due to the fact that I was logged on with Gnome Wayland. When in normal Gnome, it stays in the square, but it still doesn't display properly. Instead of having one red marker on the map, it has a whole vericle line of them. Also, in normal Gnome, all the other bugs are present.
Isn't it this bug the same as this bug#768165 ?
Indeed. W.r.t. the problems with the map, it's also a duplicate of bug 765274, which I'm going to set as the original bug, to have more info on that one. Thanks for noticing it! @chad: Thiago also fixed the original problem, which has landed on the master-branch ;) *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 765274 ***
