Description Michele Campeotto 2002-03-28 11:49:22 UTC
My sidebar tree panels fails to start. I open the sidebar, then open the
popup and click on 'Tree' the Tree tab flashes for a moment and then it
fails displaing the standard 'Panel failed to start' dialog.
Comment 1 Michele Campeotto 2002-03-28 15:12:33 UTC
Messages on the console when activating the tree panel:

nautilus (pid:2747): ** WARNING **: activation failed: No server
corresponding to your query

nautilus (pid:2747): ** WARNING **: A view failed. The UI will handle
this with a dialog but this should be debugged.

Which version of nautilus are you using. CVS from today seems to be
working fine for me.
Comment 3 Luis Villa 2002-03-31 19:47:55 UTC
This works fine here, Michele. What's the situation for you with beta 3?
Comment 4 Michele Campeotto 2002-04-02 09:13:49 UTC
updated to 20020402 CVS and still having the problem...
(this always happened to me since Beta 2, both with Garnome and with VBS)
Comment 5 Michele Campeotto 2002-04-02 14:34:40 UTC
don't know if this useful, but my root account has never touched my
GNOME 2 installation, I'm compiling, building and installing with a
test user which owns /gnome/head.
Comment 6 Dave Bordoley [Not Reading Bug Mail] 2002-04-06 21:02:28 UTC
louie:

Based on Michele's comments perhaps we should lower the priority and
severity, and this seems to be a bug with a specific setup.
Comment 7 John Fleck 2002-04-14 14:03:04 UTC
I also have this problem, and have continually had it for more than a
month with each successive build. I'm using VBS, building it in a
sandbox, which sounds like the common thread with Michele's experience.
Comment 8 Luis Villa 2002-04-14 19:24:23 UTC
Weird. Maybe a path problem of some type? I'm re-upping the severity
since Michele isn't the only person seeing this.
Comment 9 Michele Campeotto 2002-04-15 08:23:11 UTC
Yes, I think a path problem too, since I've recompiled my GNOME 2 from
root and still no luck.
Should try to rm -rf /gnome/head/ and rebuild all...
Comment 10 Damon Chaplin 2002-04-23 20:46:40 UTC
This only happens if you have an old version of Nautilus installed
in a different directory. (You can temporarily move the old nautilus
libs while building the new nautilus and that should fix it.)
