The current subcategories aren't very good:

 * Some contain very few apps
 * Each category contains a subcategory called "other" - not useful if you are browsing a store
 * Some have technical names, like "OCR" or "raster graphics

It would improve the experience if we therefore cleaned up the subcategories so we only show the useful ones. A proposal for how to do this is here:

Reorganising the subcategories also requires that we change the UI for navigating them - with fewer subcategories a sidebar isn't a good fit. Wireframes for an alternative approach:
