GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 766963
Background grey even though set to image and image is displayed elsewhere
Last modified: 2016-06-15 14:19:47 UTC
After upgrading to GNOME 3.20 on Ubuntu GNOME 16.04 I have found that even if I set my background again through the gnome-control-center that my background looks like this: Background_Not_Showing.png Even though it shows correctly in both of these places: Background_Shown_In_Settings.png Background_Shown_In_AO.png I have also tried setting the button via the right-click option in Nautilus but still the same results.

I initially filed a report on this issue here but thought I would also do so upstream: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1586655
This bug seems to have the same effects as this one: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=761406
Another thing I have noticed is that when I log in I see the correct background for a few seconds until it is replaced with the grey.
As stated here https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1586655/comments/6 a patch has been released in the downstream PPA shipping GNOME 3.20 to Ubuntu. I don't know if you need to communicate with him to get the patch upstream if it's not a downstream issue.
Nautilus developers, could you make a new 3.20 release so that you don't have to get as many bug reports for an issue you already fixed? Thanks! *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 765687 ***
