Hi,

so this is not fully deterministic. However when I boot up my system, start epiphany and then the terminal, the latter does not appear in the app switcher. (See screenshot.)

If I open another app it seems to appear and to also stay even if I close that app though that is not always reproducable, dependent on the application.

Something is definitely wrong here.

I appear to be having the same issue, except I can reproduce it consistently. Some information:

1. It only happens under Wayland. Behaviour is always perfect under X11.
2. The apps that I've tried so far that it consistently happens for are terminal, files, disks, boxes, clocks. It does not happen to Firefox, Settings, Tweak Tool, Transmission, qBitTorrent, Rhythmbox.
3. When the app starts, the spinning delay indicator next to the application menu keeps spinning for a long time (15 to 30 seconds). While this is spinning, the application menu does not drop down, and the app does not appear in the application-switcher.
4. If I switch to using the Alternatetab extension, the apps do immediately display in the application-switcher, but they still exhibit the problem with the spinning delay indicator next to the application menu, and the inaccessibility of the application menu.
5. The delay indicator (and this behaviour) stays next to the app's application menu for 10 to 30 seconds after app launch, after which everything is fine and the application-switcher works.
6. At all times after launch, the app does appear in the dash, and can be brought to the foreground that way. The app also works fine aside from the inaccessible application menu.

I have no Gnome extensions installed. I am running Gnome 3.20.2 and kernel 4.6.3-300.fc24.x86_64.

I still have the same issue with Gnome 3.22.2.

Note that the problem doesn't appear when the application is launched with Alt+F2 or in a terminal.

This is very likely an issue with startup notifications under wayland, see bug 768531.
