Description Andy Pastuszak 2016-05-21 12:26:11 UTC
When I right click on an application and choose "Open With" and pick an application that is not the default, the app I choose is set as the default.

I use Image Viewer to typically open image files, such as a JPEG But sometimes I want to edit and image file. So, I right click on the file, choose Open With and pick GIMP. Now every JPEG opens with Gimp when I double click on it.

I would prefer to have it open the file and leave the default alone. Changing the default file for a specific MIME type should be a little harder to do than this simple action.

This is not a bug. To set default app right click and properties->open as->set as default.

I open jpg with gimp but i want open ever with the image viewer.

So are you saying choosing a different app other than the default app from "Open With" should change the default app?

I opened a similar bug for nautilus/files ver. 3.18 (https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=747706)

It has been closed as duplicate of https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=747706

There's a patch but it is not yet applied/released to nautilus 3.20 ...

Regards
