Still happening, Colin?
Yeah - I'm still getting this with the 200203290257 snaps. I'm going to get the latest snapshots and try again.
This is probably a gconf schema install issue. Marking as NEEDINFO. Colin: if you still can't get this to work then please reopen
I'm still having this problem. What should I do to make sure the gconf schemas are correct? (I've just installed the latest snapshots).
FWIW - I'm getting a slightly different error message now: There was a problem loading applet 'OAFIID:GNOME_MultiLoadApplet' Details: Unknown CORBA exception id: 'IDL:CORBA/COMM_FAILURE:1.0' I don't remember seeing the CORBA bit before.
Colin: check to see that the schema files are installed. The schema file should be installed in /etc/gconf/schemas and there should be a directory /etc/gconf/gconf.xml.defaults/schemas/apps/multiload. Do you have a recent gconf ORBit etc?
I do have a multiload.schemas in /etc/gconf/schemas, and I do have a /etc/gconf/gconf.xml.defaults/schemas/apps/multiload directory. Here are the gconf and orbit packages I have installed: ORBit2-2.3.107.0.200204052107-0.snap.ximian.1 ORBit-devel-0.5.13-ximian.1 ORBit-0.5.13-ximian.1 ORBit2-devel-2.3.107.0.200204052107-0.snap.ximian.1 GConf-devel-1.0.8-1.ximian.1 gconf-editor-0.1.0.200204052107-0.snap.ximian.1 GConf2-1.1.9.0.200204052107-0.snap.ximian.1 GConf-1.0.8-1.ximian.1 GConf2-devel-1.1.9.0.200204052107-0.snap.ximian.1
Should I have both Gconf and Gconf2 installed? What about Orbit and Orbit2?
Colin: you only need ORBit2 asndf GConf2. Do other applets crash for you?
OK - I'll get rid of the old orbit and gconf packages. Some of the other applets do crash also (but some do work).
Colin: what version of GConf 1 do you have? I think you might need a newer version of GConf1 that plays well with GConf2. I think Galeon had many problems with the two interacting.
I had 1.0.8-1 (Ximian package) but I just now installed 1.0.8-4 from gnomehide. I also installed the ORBit package from gnomehide.
Bingo.
