Description Michael Gratton 2016-05-11 13:50:16 UTC
When a user has a valid GPG key configured for their computer's local account (Bug 766273) and they receive a message that has either a PGP/MIME or inline PGP signature, the message should be automatically verified and the result made available to the user.

Not too many thoughts on other PGP requirements or the UX for this right now, suffice to say that the indication that the message is signed and verifies okay should be easy to find but not obtrusive, and the warning when the message doesn't verify should be pretty obvious.

Note that the UI changes for this will be impacted by changes being made for Bug 765516 and will need to be coordinated with that work.

GMime just made PGP/MIME and inline-PGP a whole lot simpler in 3.0

GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org.
As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org
which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately
quite limited so not every ticket can get handled).

If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent
and supported software version, then please follow
  https://wiki.gnome.org/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines
and create a new ticket at
  https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/geary/-/issues/

Thank you for your understanding and your help.
