GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 765385
Always suggests changes for .m4a files.
Last modified: 2016-05-10 22:07:34 UTC
When I reload a directory, Easytag always suggests changes for my .mpa files, even after writing the suggested changes. All my .mp3 files are handled normally.
.mpa files are not included in the list of files recognised by EasyTAG. Can you confirm the file extension of the files that are marked as unsaved?
Sorry, I meant .m4a. Don't know what got into me.
Please post a link to one of the problematic files. There is no special handling of the unsaved state for M4A files, so this is unlikely to be specific to the file format. It might be related to the content of the tag.
If you look [here](http://i.imgur.com/6oUn41i.png), you can see why I think it's m4a files. I got the files from iTunes, how am I supposed to share the link?
It's probably easiest to email me directly with a file, but please try to find a small one.
I mean't more in terms of copyright. What email address should I use?
If you don't want to share the files, that's fine, but I am not likely to be able to fix the bug if I cannot reproduce it. You can use <amigadave@amigadave.com>
I spent a bit of time debugging this, and figured out that empty fields (tag fields which were made up only of the empty string "") were being taken as-is from MP4 files, and then causing the file to be detected as unsaved when removing the empty fields. I pushed a fix on master as commit dfb03abb2c5dd129e67e732139aa121384b6d7cc which will be included in a future 2.4.3 release. Thanks for the bug report!
Awesome. Any idea when the release will be?
Probably a couple of weeks, at least. There is bug 765386 to investigate, as well some more testing and fixes that will probably happen before the release.
