This happens when resizing from left/top/top-left.

I think this is somehow related to the lack of min/max size hints in xdg-shell v5.

Thanksfully, min/max size hints should be in xdg-shell v6. I wonder if the patches from bug 764413 would help here.

Yep, not happening anymore.
