Hello,

We have a group of people working on NM translation on l10n.gnome.org. https://l10n.gnome.org/vertimus/NetworkManager/master/po/zh_CN

I am going to do some quick check on your translations, and do a quick `msgmerge -C` into the file at bug 765787.

----

(After opening in POedit and looking at the first screen)

Wow, 100% complete. Looks like you are not using correct quotes though (Chinese uses “啊啊啊” instead of '啊啊啊'). You may want to read the guide at https://mirrors.ustc.edu.cn/anthon/misc/l10n/zh_CN_l10n.pdf.

I guess I will just close that bug and upload a quote-corrected version here.

Thanks for your work again. A few msgfilter operations will be done.

Oops, I am afraid we are not using the same PO templates, or you have deleted all untranslated strings. I will leave my bug open then.
Comment 3 Mingye Wang 2016-04-29 00:36:01 UTC
Got 109 new translated strings by merging from your file. That's actually quite significant.

Therefore, thanks again. And good luck with Launchpad.

I think I will spend a few more minutes copying the names and emails of LP contributors into the file headers...

Just FYI, I think I have found out which version of NM this translation is for. It looks like 1.0.4 (packaged in Ubuntu Willy).

Got another 186 strings from Ub xenial exports. Thanks for all the hard work.

It looks like a total of 301-(109+31)=161 strings are present in our pending GNOME submission but not in Ubuntu LP translations. You can consider integrating them into the ubuntu package translations at https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager. (Oh wait, re-licensing GPL translations into LP's three-clause BSD won't work unless you ask the contributors (Dz Chen mainly) themselves.)

Hey,

I merged the patch from bug 765787 to master and nm-1-2 branch.

I am a bit confused how this bug relates to the other, and where this would apply.

Thank you.
Comment 7 Mingye Wang 2016-05-11 13:04:15 UTC
Bug 765787 is a msgmerged version of what's available here (i.e. Ubuntu willy LP translations, NM 1.0.4) and what was available on GNOME l10n (i.e. master). I did some extra post-processing like fixing the Chinese curly quotes according to the guidelines at http://wiki.ubuntu.org.cn/TranslatorsGuideline (or my guide linked previously -- the two versions are mostly compatible on in-GUI quotes at least) on the merged version. Translations from current Git PO (Zanata?) and Launchpad Xenial (1.1.9x) are also merged in my report.

You may want to apply this patch to the nm-1-0 branch since this looks like something for NM 1.0.4, and I don't really care about the quotes here (trying not to be over-pedantic on microtypography for an old version branch.) This should work for the 0.9 branch too.

bugzilla.gnome.org is being shut down in favor of a GitLab instance.
We are closing all old bug reports and feature requests in GNOME Bugzilla which have not seen updates for a long time.

If you still use NetworkManager and if you still see this bug / want this feature in a recent and supported version of NetworkManager, then please feel free to report it at https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/NetworkManager/NetworkManager/-/issues/

Thank you for creating this report and we are sorry it could not be implemented (workforce and time is unfortunately limited).
