Description el 2016-03-06 23:16:50 UTC
It should be possible to disable all inputs except for pen.

I'm currently in the following situation:

1. Laptop supports accurate pen, touch input, mouse

2. Palm rejection works, but only if it's obviously a hand (= fine when large area touched, however if I touch the screen in unfortunate small spots I get click events). Since Xorg can't know I'm about to use my pen, I don't see how that can ever work 100% per design - correct me if I'm wrong on this

3. GIMP accepts all types of input. This means due to the palm rejection never working perfectly, I occasionally get annoying spots and dots in my image

This would be somewhat trivial if I could simply disable all non-pen input on the canvas in GIMP, specifically "Core Pointer". However, I can't seem to disable "Core Pointer" in extended devices. It would be therefore very useful to all people with touch input on their drawing devices to change that.

The painter I work with would simply disable touch input on her tablet (so globally for the whole desktop). This said, I could imagine you could still want to have touch features (UI interaction with fingers) while still drawing with pen only.

So I imagine for this case, a feature to disable press input on the canvas only would be cool indeed. Well it would still be annoying because you could have unexpected pointer movements, but at least no unexpected painting.
