Every time I try to run GIMP it stops loading on the Fonts.
It also locks up everything on my laptop. It will not let me do anything except hit the on/off button. 
Please help

On the initial launch, the font cache is built. This can take a long time, especially if you've got a lot of fonts. 

But I have never had this lock up anything else on my systems, even on rather obsolete hardware. But maybe that's one specific uncommon font causing this - can you try to create a log in Process Monitor (see https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896645.aspx ) for the gimp-2.8.exe process and provide this? This will allow us to tell what font files are being accessed, and how long this takes.
