GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 762557
Hotkeys support?
Last modified: 2021-05-26 09:26:51 UTC
I just fired baobab up, figured out I had a file too big for that partition, and rm-ed it. And I noticed F5 didn't update the view (too lazy to switch back to trackpad) I guess there would be plenty of other hotkeys that would help then.
What is the request or bug described in this report?
Bind some actions to some buttons? I have been a bit vague since, aside of refreshing, I haven't really any idea of other shortcuts. But I'm pretty sure you as developer know which other ones might be useful.
If you have specific actions and shortcuts in mind, feel free to list them. In general they need to be disocverable (and consistent with HIG) because there's not much sense in adding shortcuts for the sake of adding shortcuts. :) I'm not a Baobab developer so I do not know which ones might be useful.
As you say it would be nice to add shortcuts in consistency to other gnome core products. e.g. F5 in addition to Ctrl + r for reloads. Other possible shortcuts inspired by nautilus: Ctrl + 1 "Rings Chart" Ctrl + 2 "Treemap Chart" Ctrl + + "Zoom In" Ctrl + - "Zoom Out" Ctrl + o "Open folder" (in nautilus) Alt + Up "Go to parent folder"
It would be also a good idea to add a "Keyboard Shortcuts" help dialog, as many other GNOME applications.
GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org. As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately quite limited so not every ticket can get handled). If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent and supported software version of Baobab, then please follow https://wiki.gnome.org/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines and create a new enhancement request ticket at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/baobab/-/issues/ Thank you for your understanding and your help.
