Description Georges Basile Stavracas Neto 2016-02-17 04:48:57 UTC
Sometimes popup windows don't get positioned correctly and, after trying to open then many times, one can get graphic corruptions.

An easy way to reproduce this issue is by using GNOME Builder's or Polari's autocompletion for some minutes. While Builder do show the autocompletion windows correctly sometimes, most of the time it won't work. I didn't manage to make Polari's autocompletion popup window to show up.

By graphic corruptions, I mean that all my screen shows mostly random content. I can usually fix it by going to Shell's overview, but sometimes the corruption is so hard that I have to do a hard reboot.

random content on 'all your screen' is basically by definition not a gtk issue, but a compositor problem -> mutter
Comment 2 Jonas Ådahl 2016-02-19 06:39:04 UTC
I can't reproduce this issue and I suspect it could be a driver issue. What hardware are you experiencing these issues on?
Comment 3 Georges Basile Stavracas Neto 2016-02-19 11:28:59 UTC
I suspect that as well. I'm on a laptop with hybrid graphics of NVidia GeForce 920 (3D controller) + Intel HD 5500 "Broadwell" (VGA compatible controller). Is there any log or output I can provide? Please, let me know if I can help with.
Comment 4 Jonas Ådahl 2016-02-22 09:23:02 UTC
I'd suggest opening a bug on mesa.
Comment 5 Matthias Clasen 2016-02-22 19:17:50 UTC
ok, driver bug, removing from target list
Comment 6 GNOME Infrastructure Team 2021-07-05 13:52:12 UTC
GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org.
As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org
which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately
quite limited so not every ticket can get handled).

If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent
and supported software version, then please follow
  https://wiki.gnome.org/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines
and create a new ticket at
  https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/-/issues/

Thank you for your understanding and your help.
