I noticed in data/org.gnome.Cheese.gschema.xml two strings mentioning XDG_VIDEO and XDG_PHOTO. 

These aliases are really called XDG_VIDEOS_DIR and XDG_PICTURES_DIR in config files that use them, like ~/.config/user-dirs.dirs
