GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 760470
Proposing a new fullscale keyboard layout
Last modified: 2016-02-10 07:19:53 UTC
Created attachment 318744 [details] [review] patch: add new "tablet" layout Hi, I have been using a tablet with Gnome for ~4 months now, and thus had quite some time to find out about quirks and kinks regarding the touch department. The biggest of which is text input. One major part is that the default touch layout is not sufficient for daily use, just think about pressing up-arrow or tab in the terminal. The fullscale layout is better but still lacks keys and takes up a lot of space while it presents tiny keys. I want to propose a new layout, possibly replacing the current fullscale layout. I had it in use for a few weeks now and refined it step by step. It may not be perfect yet, but one can use it as a daily driver without needing a physical keyboard. To give you an idea about the layout see this album (US and DE version): https://imgur.com/a/PA66G Would appreciate hearing about your thoughts on it! :)
As I don't see any harm of adding a non-default layout, I have pushed the patch as it is. Thanks for the contribution.
