Description Michael D 2016-01-10 14:01:48 UTC
If a window is vertically maximized, it can't be resized in any direction, even if there is horizontal space available.

This does not occur for horizontally maximized windows, which is the behavior one likely expects and I prefer. Horizontal resizing should be possible.

I notice also that the window decoration loses its curved corners (using default gtk theme) when vertically maximized. This doesn't happen for any other kind of maximization (full or horizontal).

Oddly this issue doesn't arise for the terminal window. When vertically maximized it can still be resized horizontally.

Just another observation: Evolution's composer window allows resizing when vertically maximized. I'll note more examples here if I find them and it's helpful.

GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org.
As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org
which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately
quite limited so not every ticket can get handled).

If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent
and supported software version, then please follow
  https://wiki.gnome.org/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines
and create a new ticket at
  https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/-/issues/

Thank you for your understanding and your help.
