Description hpvpp@optusnet.com.au 2016-01-07 23:05:41 UTC
ubuntu bug 1524610

by request of seb128@ubuntu.com

The width of columns in Nautilus appears to be averaged across all columns such that all columns display as much as possible.
The consequence of this is that long names in the location-column will cause the name in the name-column to be truncated.
The problem with this is that files with long names cannot readily be identified, because the differentiating part of the name is truncated as with, for instance, suffixes denoting version numbers.

GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org.
As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org
which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately
quite limited so not every ticket can get handled).

If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent
and supported software version of Files (nautilus), then please follow
  https://wiki.gnome.org/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines
and create a new ticket at
  https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/nautilus/-/issues/

Thank you for your understanding and your help.
