Since we have more (then 8bit) colour space precision in Gimp 2.9 it would be nice to allow user set default precision for all loaded images (or at lease for types of images). I'm not talking about default precision for new images (which can be set in Preferences) but for loading all existing images.

I use Gimp mostly for photo processing and now every picture (JPEG) I load to Gimp, I have to change "Image->Precision->32 bit float". I think, it would be great to have possibility to setup default image precision for some image types (like JPEG).

I know It can be ambiguous, some image types are more then 8 bit, some are indexed - in this cases, Gimp could ask if it should convert image to "user defined precision" (like with different then RGB colour spaces).
