GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 759954
Running evince blocks multimedia keys
Last modified: 2017-07-19 17:40:32 UTC
Running evince blocks VLC and Amarok (and probably other players) from reading the multimedia keys (Play/Pause, Stop, Next/Previous Track; Volume keys work fine), at least on Wayland (I think on X11 as well, but I haven't confirmed that yet). I suspect this is related to #547164 and #617615, except that presentation mode does not even start when I use the keys, they just don't work. Starting the player after evince does not work around the problem. To Reproduce: Start GNOME (Wayland) Start Player, Play music Press “Play/Pause” twice ⇒ should pause, then resume playback Start evince with a document (e. g. from the file manager) Press “Play/Pause” ⇒ expected: should pause playback; actual: does nothing visible
Perhaps related to the code in: https://git.gnome.org/browse/evince/tree/shell/ev-media-player-keys.c#n97
FWIW, I do not have Wayland, so I am just guessing.
