GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 75977
Have "Edit Menus" been removed from the docs ?
Last modified: 2015-03-24 13:00:31 UTC
If you select "Edit Menus" on panel right-click menu, can you only edit the "Applications" menu? Or will it eventually edit the menus on the menu applet? If it's the former, suggest the menu item should be renamed "Edit Applications Menu". Not entirely sure it belongs here anyway, should it maybe be on the Actions menu, or the Applications menu itself? (In the latter case, it probably wouldn't need renamed at all).
I'm a little lost as to how you edit the menus at all with this. I get a Nautilus window with listing of all the menu categories, and if I click I get the contents of that category, but I can't do anything obvious with them that seems like editing a menu (either adding, deleting or changing items). What's supposed to be going on here?
Ah. I see Calum has filed #75979 in response to the confusion I noted above.
I'm still not sure that anyone other than _v_ has any idea how menu editing is supposed to work.
updating the dependency.
And actually talking to _v_ at Guadec I don't think this is ever going to be a 'Menu editor'. I can't remember exactly what he said but I think we agreed to remove this menuitem ...
I wasn't party to that conversation, but we were talking about it here this morning and the docs guys at least want it moved to the Actions menu (or somewhere else more sensible).
It can't be /completely/ removed- it does have to go somewhere. But yeah, Actions sounds like a fine place for it to my mind.

Oops, wrong box. Sorry about that.
Okay, I've just removed this option entirely. The feature obviously doesn't exist yet, so lets not pretend it does. When its implemented we can think of the correct place to put the menuitem.
I'd like to reopen this while I check to make sure the docs match. I'll take assignment.
It looks like we're OK here. Closing. Thanks for your patience all.
