GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 759093
Bring back create symbolic links in the context menu
Last modified: 2017-07-24 16:33:13 UTC
In Nautilus 3.15.x create symbolic links ("make link") was removed from the context menu (not sure why?). The alternate method, which involves mouse, keyboard and three fingers simultaneously, is very inconvenient for normal users. 1. First you have to press Ctrl+Shift with one hand 2. Then you need to select folder/files with mouse/keyboard. 3. Then you have to drag those with mouse while pressing left mouse button. Now the problems is, While dragging you must drag it to a empty space; if by mistake, you move mouse over to a folder, you will immediately go inside that and symlinks will be created inside that folder. Now if you have hundreds of folders/files, dragging is very difficult in grid-view mode as it has very less empty space. Th whole thing is clearly complected and a simple "make link" in the context menu can solve the problem. Thanks.
Why this bug hasn't been accepted yet? Is there anything I can provide?
