Description jbassett 2015-12-02 15:13:03 UTC
This issue was originally reported at Ubuntu Launchpad here and confirmed as a problem:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1368756)
They advised that this is upstream issue and to report to GNOME.

The Issue

Right-click menu in nautilus' recently used only partially works correctly

- open nautilus
- click on "Recently used" ("Zuletzt verwendet")
- right-click on a file
-- choose: "E-Mail..." ...nothing happens (thunderbird should open)
-- choose: "open with gedit" (if its a text file) ...it's opened with the preferred editor, geany in my case, but not with gedit
-- choose: "open with" and "other application"("Anderer Anwendung...") depending on the ending, proposed applications are useful (*.txt, *.png) or not (e.g. *.js). Further more, the file name is not displayed but a reference/link (?): instead of "Choose an application to open >>myimage.png<<" (Wählen Sie eine Anwendung zum Öffnen von >>meinbild.png<<) I get: "Choose an application to open >>8ac8fd07221e00.........<<" (possibly that causes the problems??)

Hi,
This version of nautilus is old, so we don't support it.
In 3.16 the open with another application changed so that no longer happens.
I cannot reproduce the one about opening with gedit but actually goign with another app. Can you check with 3.18?
And about the email, true that is a bug in the nautilus-sendto app, not in nautilus itself.

Can you report the bugs separately with the info?

Thanks!

-> invalid since it's a report of multiple bugs in one

Have now reported the "E-mail..." button not working issue at:
