Description Strangiato 2015-11-29 00:22:07 UTC
Steps to reproduce:

open "details" item from gnome control center
select "default applications" on left side
change your default video player setting
Result: avi, flv and rmvb files are still open with previous selected video player when you do double click on these files in nautilus
Comment 1 Strangiato 2017-08-27 14:55:11 UTC
same bug on 3.26 beta 2...
Comment 2 Strangiato 2018-09-09 11:13:39 UTC
In Gnome 3.30 default video player setting is still not updated for rmvb video files when I select a new player in gnome control center > details > default applications. No problemwith avi and flv files.
Comment 3 André Klapper 2021-06-09 16:29:26 UTC
GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org.
As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org
which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately
quite limited so not every ticket can get handled).

If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent
and supported software version, then please follow
  https://wiki.gnome.org/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines
and create a new bug report at
  https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-control-center/-/issues/

Thank you for your understanding and your help.
