GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 758121
file-roller shows incorrect (future) modification date for files contained within RAR archives
Last modified: 2017-11-19 15:58:50 UTC
Well, I have no idea whether this is only a problem with RAR archives, but if it is fixed for RARs, it will work for all. Test file is one of the oldest files I still have kept. :) It's a manual from 2001, *unmodified*, and packed with .rar. andy@andy-lubuntubox:~/import$ rar lv fileroller_wrongdate_test.rar RAR 5.30 beta 2 Copyright (c) 1993-2015 Alexander Roshal 4 Aug 2015 Trial version Type RAR -? for help Archive: fileroller_wrongdate_test.rar Details: RAR 4 Attributes Size Date Time Name ----------- --------- ---------- ----- ---- -rw-r--r-- 1136144 2001-04-11 19:58 elitegroup_k7vza20.pdf ----------- --------- ---------- ----- ---- 1136144 1 REAL DATE : April 11, 2001. When opened with file-roller, it will show September 21, 2016 in the future. I also remember files that showed a date somewhere in 2032... There must be something seriously wrong. Oh, and no, it is not related to a locale. Also tried LC_ALL=C file-roller on console, same thing.
Created attachment 363995 [details] Example of future dates Two years on and still an issue. Seen in Ubuntu 18.04, file-roller 3.26.1 Using RAR, UNRAR 5.50
This problem has been fixed in our software repository. The fix will go into the next software release (3.26.3). Once that release is available, you may want to check for a software upgrade provided by your Linux distribution.
