GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 757867
zh_* bugzilla link mixup
Last modified: 2018-05-22 12:20:06 UTC
Some awful mixups happened with the translation teams page. This might be rather a bugzilla component division problem though. 1. zh_CN team bugzilla link points to inexist component 'Chinese (China) [zh_CN]' instead of 'Chinese (Simplified) [zh_CN]'. Some years-old bugs are still there being NEW, and I guess few people have seen them… 2. zh_HK/TW (zh_Hant) team should have two bugzilla components, but we only got one 'Chinese (Hong Kong) [zh_HK]', omitting the 'Chinese (Traditional) [zh_TW]' component. Bugreport link errors stops users from telling the translators about the bugs, and it also stops translators from looking for existing bugs to solve.
Uh-oh, it looks like the zh traditional team is called zh_trad instead of zh_Hant. A super nonstandard name…
There are many variations of Chinese, so I put information here for reference. zh_CN: Chinese (People's Republic of China) zh_TW: Chinese (Taiwan) zh_HK: Chinese (Hong Kong) zh_MO: Chinese (Macau) zh_SG: Chinese (Singapore) Also there are some "general names": zh_hans: Chinese (Simplified), includes zh_CN and zh_SG zh_hant: Chinese (Traditional), includes zh_TW, zh_HK and zh_MO If we have plenty of translators, we can provide 5 versions of translation. But if we lack translators, we can provide only zh_hans and zh_hant, and map others to these two. There are two obsolete names: zh_simp == zh_hans, zh_trad == zh_hant. They still exist in Gnome translation codebase, which needs updating.
starbrilliant, I believe bug 757896 is where you meant to put these info to..
Increasing importance as there are a bunch of zh_* bugs lying around…
