GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 756825
Presentation mode is double scaled on wayland+hidpi
Last modified: 2018-05-22 16:22:36 UTC
If you run evince 3.18.0 in a gnome wayland session on a hidpi screen and you switch to presentation mode, you'll notice that the content of presentation overflows the monitor, and only half is visible, as if the content was doubly scaled - first to match the monitor hidpi scaling, and then again. This might be a gtk+ bug, but it only happens in F5 presentation mode, not F11 fullscreen, so filing it as an evince bug.
Well, it happens with gnome-documents too, so maybe it's a libevince bug.
This is supposed to work as expected. See https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=723431 I don't know what has changed in gtk for this to happen now.
I can confirm, that this issue is present on Gnome 3.22 when running Wayland on an HiDpi screen.
under X in ev_view_presentation_update_monitor_geometry at gdk_screen_get_monitor_geometry I get monitor geom of 1920 1080 while under wayland I get monitor geom 3840 2160
Looks to me that this is a duplicate to https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=760567
The issue is still presente on Gnome 3.24. Btw: users affected by the bug, for the time being, can just launch evince after setting GDK_BACKEND=x11.
