GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 756811
Allow using Super+<Number> for opening favorite applications
Last modified: 2015-10-19 14:30:57 UTC
Created attachment 313664 [details] Unity with Super key press and hold There is a feature in Ubuntu's unity - Super+Num shortcut keys. When you hold Super key it shows numbers, and when you press the number, it will open the related application from favorite menu. Why aren't there such feature in gnome-shell for opening favorite applications? I think having that would be nice. Regards Mostafa Shahverdy
What is the exact advantage of such a feature? In gnome-shell you have all your favorite applications in the side bar on the left, and it's just one key press to get to that list and choose an application. In which situations is this not sufficient?
You have to stick to mouse all the time. I can't find a better way to easily open my favorite application from the sidebar without using mouse. I have to mention that opening/closing/switching_between applications is something that happens a lot during your experience.
