GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 756711
Gedit, hangs frequently and it is very slow to open window
Last modified: 2015-12-01 07:31:27 UTC
Gedit, hangs frequently and it is very slow to open window. I see this behavior in 3.16.4-1.fc22 but after downgrade to3.16.1-1.fc22 the bug disappears. I turned off all plugins and deleted the ~/.config/gedit2 directory to reproduce the bug.
It's maybe a duplicate of bug #756258. Can you test: $ cd ~/.local/share/ $ mv recently-used.xbel recently-used.xbel.backup $ gedit $ mv recently-used.xbel.backup recently-used.xbel $ gedit
Simply fails to load at all for me on the same package, downgrading fixed it. Is this a gnome bug of FC bug then? Only anomoly I see, not sure if relavant: Nov 24 13:31:12 blackstar-darkness-net gnome-session[2098]: Window manager warning: Buggy client sent a _NET_ACTIVE_WINDOW message with a timestamp of 0 for 0x1e68ddc (Find/Repla) Nov 24 13:31:18 blackstar-darkness-net gnome-session[2098]: Window manager warning: Buggy client sent a _NET_ACTIVE_WINDOW message with a timestamp of 0 for 0x1e000f3 (Resource -)
The problem should be fixed with gedit 3.18.2 (stable version) and 3.19.1 (unstable version).
Appears to be fixed in: gedit.x86_64 2:3.16.4-1.fc22 Happy Holidays
Thanks for the feedback.
@cgasmith@comcast.net , yes it seems to be fixed. But isn't it the same nominal version as the one where I reported the bug? how does it work? isn't the "-1" a patch version that has to change?
The commit that fixes the problem is this one (see bug #756258): https://git.gnome.org/browse/gedit/commit/?id=ce9b516db0f38eb9d74f0d850c990edb88e7f5ae It doesn't seem to be backported on the gnome-3-16 branch. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 756258 ***
