GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 755902
Unable to Load from OS X 10.11
Last modified: 2018-06-29 23:43:20 UTC
Created attachment 312450 [details] OS X debug screen After installing OS X 10.11 I attempted to load GNUCASH but it just sat at the loading... screen. I reinstalled Java just to make sure but same issue. It will just hang and I recover by performing a force quit.
Having upgraded I see the same problem. Seems to be a pthread deadlock. I'll investigate and get a new DMG up as soon as I figure out what's going on. In the meantime 2.6.7 started up just fine for me, so try rolling back to that. BTW, Java and GnuCash have nothing to do with each other, and you shouldn't install Java on a Mac unless you really need it.

This turns out to be a compiler issue: The 2.6.8 bundle was compiled with gcc-4.2 from Xcode 3.2.2 instead of llvm-gcc-4.2; that was an effort to avoid Bug 724590, but it seems to introduce other issues that prevent Guile from working correctly on ElCap. Rather than making a new app bundle for 2.6.8, I'm going to proceed directly to 2.6.9 because of Bug 755920. That should be available tomorrow.
Will confirm when 2.6.9 is available and running on my system.
I have installed 2.6.9 on OS X 10.11 and all seems good with the following minor points: 1. First run only: All the buttons were not working (e.g. the close button on the tips window, and the tabs on the main window). Clicking them with the pointer did nothing. Quitting the app from the File menu and restarting fixed this. I believe similar behaviour has been reported in other bug posts so I haven't posted a dup. 2. In the NEWS.txt file, the 3 header lines for 2.6.9 are duplicates of 2.6.8 so have the wrong version/release date. The detail of the changes however are correct for 2.6.9
Fixed! Thank you
