Description Federico Bruni 2015-09-20 09:54:50 UTC
I've tried the express install with this ISO:
http://cdimage.debian.org/debian-cd/8.2.0/amd64/iso-cd/debian-8.2.0-amd64-lxde-CD-1.iso

and at the end of installation there's GNOME installed instead of LXDE.

So I had to repeat the installation without express install in order to have LXDE.

Yeah, we had to choose a desktop regardless of which variant it is. The installer script generation API in libosinfo are supposed to be OS-independent so nothing Boxes needs to do about it but I recently added some framework in libosinfo (so scripts can do different things based on which media is being used) that should allow us to fix this.

Actually it turns out that we are not asking it to install GNOME at all but rather just "desktop":

https://git.fedorahosted.org/cgit/libosinfo.git/tree/data/install-script/debian.org/debian-preseed-desktop.xml.in#n170

It seems to choose GNOME even if GNOME is not available on the install media. So this just shows yet another way Debian's support for unattended installation is just plain stupid. Please file a bug on Debian.
