Description gnomebugs 2015-09-05 02:38:11 UTC
I haven't used the gparted liveCD in a few months, but the last time I used it, I couldn't find any tools for doing EFI stuff. It would be nice if the LiveCD included some. Sometimes, I'm copying my hard disk partitions around, and I need to go into EFI to remove old partitions from the BIOS boot order or to force the BIOS to boot from the new copy of the partition instead of the old version. When I was moving my boot partition from a HD to a SSD, I ended up needing to boot into Fedora to reconfigure things by mapping EFI into the file system. It was just a coincidence that I happened to have a copy of Fedora installed, otherwise, I could have been stuck. It would have been better if the gparted liveCD came with EFI tools like efibootmgr.
