After a new clean install after the 2 or 3rd restart 
Application "Panel" has crashed due to a fatal error segmentation fault

Repeated the clean install with the same results

Please upgrade to gnome-libs-1.4.1.4 and gnome-core-1.4.0.6 or newer.
