GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 753006
Inline notes created by Acrobat Reader are not displayed
Last modified: 2017-09-26 12:31:09 UTC
Created attachment 308365 [details] Test document with variety of annotation types My supervisor uses Acrobat Reader to annotate PDF files to indicate recommended changes to the document. As I go through the document making the changes, I delete their annotations. However, in cases where they have used the inline addition tool, Evince does not display the note associated with the annotation.
To reproduce the bug, open attachment_308365 and attempt to view the annotation marked by the blue symbol to the lower right of "regression" immediately after equation 5.2. No symbol or box appears. The expected behaviour would be similar to that obtained by right-clicking or hovering the mouse over the yellow speech bubble symbols. In the case of the blue symbol, the annotation is "as it accounts" by "Author: armstron". The annotation is correctly displayed in okular, and my current workaround is to use that piece of software. It would be nice if Evince was able to do this too :)
With Evince master, you click on the text next to the symbol and you get the box with the annotation (a red one). However, it does not show any text.
Running the text case, I get "Unimplemented annotation: POPPLER_ANNOT_CARET. It is a known issue and it might be implemented in the future.", does that make this a duplicate of bug #626982?
Indeed. I have been bitten by the same issue and it is the caret annotation that Evince and Poppler are missing support. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 626982 ***
