GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 752303
English translation of date/time format is wrong
Last modified: 2015-09-07 16:03:45 UTC
In gnome-desktop/po/en.po, strings most strings do not respect correct English US format. i.e. <quote> #. Translators: This is the time format with full date used #. in 24-hour mode. #: ../libgnome-desktop/gnome-wall-clock.c:238 msgid "%a %b %e, %R:%S" msgstr "%a %e %b, %H∶%M∶%S" </quote> should be <quote> #. Translators: This is the time format with full date used #. in 24-hour mode. #: ../libgnome-desktop/gnome-wall-clock.c:238 msgid "%a %b %e, %R:%S" msgstr "%a %b %e, %H∶%M∶%S" </quote> P.S. Sorry if my bug report doesn't respect the correct format for a bug report, but it is my first time posting a bug.
Matthias, I'm guessing en.po was copied from the original en_GB.po file, right?
Not that I remember. The commit message says "The only difference from C is that the ratio is used". But as the but points out, in some places, I also switched %b and %e. Note sure how that happened, but it seems to contradict the commit message.
Created attachment 307485 [details] [review] po: Fix English US translations The default English translation, used for US English, and other untranslated English locales (so, not en_GB or en_CA) should match the default "untranslated" strings. This was lost when support for ratio separators was added.
Will it be fixed in Gnome 3.18?
