The recent trend for many distros is to go back to FFmpeg, most recent Debian/Ubuntu. gstreamer should consider likewise

(Also, that 'reasoning' is the ffmpeg point of view, looks like the libav folks never even bothered to put up a libav-provider/libav page.)
