GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 752094
CSD windows cannot be resized on Fluxbox
Last modified: 2018-04-15 00:20:48 UTC
I am sure this is a duplicate. You can also see here: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=744249 A lot of gtk3 apps cannot be resized on Fluxbox. Also, they can just barely be resized on Openbox. I went through all my apps based on gtk3 and removed them because they are unusable. It is unfortunate, because gnome apps tend to have good functionality. Example apps include: evince, file-roller, gnome-calculator I guess, since I'm using Jessie, I won't be seeing any of these apps for the next few years. Also, please see here: http://sourceforge.net/p/fluxbox/bugs/1111/ Fluxbox developer states won't fix since no specs released on CSD: "every time i do a simple google-search for "csd-specs" or something similar not very much comes up. so, i am not really in the mood to waste that much time on the issue until (documentation wise) things improve somehow." Thanks!
My platform: Debian 8.1 libgtk-3.0 3.14.5-1 Fluxbox 1.3.5-2
I've just tried gtk 3.16 and 3.17 with fluxbox 1.3.6, and it worked just fine. There's no specs because we are mostly reusing existing EWMH and Motif window manager protocols.
Thanks for the reply. Maybe I'm stuck because of Debian Jessie. It's too bad, because I like the Gnome apps. I'll send bug reports to Debian and Fluxbox and see what they say.
Created attachment 307392 [details] gtk3 app without window controls in fvwm Hello, I tested file-roller (a gtk3 app) in the window manager fvwm and it also can't be resized. I am attaching a png. You can see there are no borders on the app while there are borders on the terminal behind it. This is the same as in Fluxbox. Debian 8.1 libgtk-3.0 3.14.5-1 Fluxbox 1.3.5-2 fvwm 1:2.6.5.ds-3 Thanks
We're moving to gitlab! As part of this move, we are moving bugs to NEEDINFO if they haven't seen activity in more than a year. If this issue is still important to you and still relevant with GTK+ 3.22 or master, please reopen it and we will migrate it to gitlab.
As announced a while ago, we are migrating to gitlab, and bugs that haven't seen activity in the last year or so will be not be migrated, but closed out in bugzilla. If this bug is still relevant to you, you can open a new issue describing the symptoms and how to reproduce it with gtk 3.22.x or master in gitlab: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gtk/issues/new
