gst-launch-1.0 decklinkvideosrc mode = 10 connection= 2 ! xvimagesink
gives black screen.

Does this still happen with recent versions of GStreamer? (>= 1.12.x).

A lot of things changed in the decklink plugin since.

Maybe also check the "signal" property to see if there is signal sync.

There is nothing suspicious in the log as far as I can see, so it's probably a configuration problem: wrong "mode", wrong "connection", or maybe you also need to force a specific "video-format"?
