Description josephbupe 2015-06-22 10:10:12 UTC
GIMP's transform tools do not select properly the content /pixels on transparent layer; instead, they select the whole layer boundary/canvas area, as if the layer was not transparent. I know that the work-around this issue is to use a rectangle selection across the layer content before using the transform tool.

It's pleasing to note, however, that the N-Point Deformation Tool only selects layer content, as would be expected! I wish other transform tools could also work in the same manner.

Right now, layers have a defined size in GIMP. If they will be resized automatically, then this might become useful.

The automatic layer resizing is handled in bug 93639.
