Description Aaron Paden 2015-06-11 19:44:35 UTC
On Intel G45/G43 chipset, webm videos stutters. This doesn't seem to effect mp4 or m4v. Audio is fine.

The exact effect is hard to describe. It seems like the video will play a frame, and then jump to the previous frame for a moment, if that makes sense. It's jittery.

Totem version: 3.16.1
gstreamer: 1.4.5
clutter: 1.22.2
clutter-gst: 3.0.6

Sure thing, sorry. Looks I was wrong about the webm thing. For example, if I download https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WxRLa5hTGkg via youtube-dl, the video is saved as .mp4 and I get the same issue.

Using GST_DEBUG_NO_COLOR=1 GST_DEBUG=*:2, I get the following warnings–Minutes the GTK deprecation warnings:

0:00:00.214354707 5259 0xe56390 WARN basesrc gstbasesrc.c:3470:gst_base_src_start_complete:<source> pad not activated yet
0:00:00.214843739 5259 0xe56390 WARN basesrc gstbasesrc.c:3470:gst_base_src_start_complete:<source> pad not activated yet

I get the same warnings from gst-launch, but I don't actually notice any flickering using that program. I thought maybe it was a problem with some videos from youtube, but I got the same issue with the .ogv download from cloud.gnome.org, though it isn't as bad.

Here is the complete totem output with G_MESSAGES_DEBUG=all:

Comment 3 Aaron Paden 2015-06-15 15:52:41 UTC
I just installed a GPU and so far I'm not getting this issue anymore. It could be an issue with the Intel drivers and that chipset.

Thanks for following up. Closing as NOTGNOME as per comment 3.
