copy visible is an option i always liked to use since the beginning. But in version 2.8.14 tends to crash Gimp very very often. So often, that i dropped to use this command if not strictly necessary and then with fear, before saving the file. If i import images as references and do a copy visible on a invisible layer, gimp crashes the 2nd time i use that command.

Maybe the same as bug 743717. Can you get a Mac OS Problem Reporter report like the user there?

agree…its always a clipboard related issue after all. i'll add my description there too. So we can close this bug as duplicate.
