Description Vladislav Korecký 2015-05-30 18:32:26 UTC
I have notebook Acer V7-482PG with NVIDIA card:
NVIDIA Corporation GK107M [GeForce GT 750M] (rev ff)

After installation of NVIDIA proprietary driver I cannot start GNOME-SHELL or GDM.
But If I use KDE, Unity or XFCE everything works.
If I replace GDM by Lihtdm, I can see login screen, but if I choose GNOME SHELL session, computer crashed.
I tested it on several distributions Ubuntu 14.04, 14.10, 15.04, Fedora 21, 22 with the same result.

Which exact version of the "Nvidia proprietary driver"?
Comment 2 Vladislav Korecký 2015-06-01 06:45:55 UTC
HW info:
01:00.0 3D controller: NVIDIA Corporation GK107M [GeForce GT 750M] (rev ff)
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Haswell-ULT Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 09)

I tried install these versions (Ubuntu repository, RPMFusion on Fedora and also NVIDIA sh installer):
- 331.113 (Ubuntu 14.04)
- 346.72-2.fc22.1 (Fedora 22)
- 346.72 (NVIDIA sh installer on Ubuntu and Fedora)

This is now affecting 3.18.x as well. Looking at older downstream bugs for Ubuntu GNOME, this seems to have gone back to 3.10 already.

Do you still experience this bug?

Do you have xserver-xorg-legacy installed?
Comment 7 Jeremy Bicha 2017-03-12 16:20:44 UTC
I'm going to go ahead and close this bug since it appears to be an Ubuntu packaging issue with a missing dependency.
