Description Brian J. Murrell 2015-05-04 12:15:32 UTC
It would seem, looking at org.gnome.system.proxy.http{,s} that while one can set authentication for http, the same is not used for https.

Why is that? Why should one not be able to use the same authentication with one's HTTPS proxy when it's also one's HTTP proxy?

For reference:

> Why is that?

Because nobody needed it thus far.
Comment 2 Bastien Nocera 2017-01-11 14:00:10 UTC
Dan, is this something we should add? I can file the glib-networking bug for that if necessary.
Comment 3 Brian J. Murrell 2017-01-11 20:37:03 UTC
Yes please! :-)

But really, I'd much rather see support for Negotiate (on both http and https proxy types) support. ;-)
Comment 4 Dan Winship 2017-01-12 13:03:35 UTC
Probably I guess (although our proxy schema really needs to be taken out and shot and replaced with something simpler)

I'd be fine with doing that, as it would also tie into how we offer that configuration in the UI. Can you explain what it should offer as settings?
Comment 6 Dan Winship 2017-01-12 13:51:49 UTC
I don't really remember what needs to be done, although there are a handful of open bugs (either in glib-networking or gsettings-desktop-schemas). And the fact that a bunch of fields in the existing schema are deprecated and unused.
Comment 7 André Klapper 2021-05-25 12:42:35 UTC
GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org.
As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org
which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately
quite limited so not every ticket can get handled).

If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent
and supported software version, then please follow
  https://wiki.gnome.org/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines
and create a new enhancement request ticket at
  https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gsettings-desktop-schemas/-/issues/

Thank you for your understanding and your help.
