Description Jente Hidskes 2015-04-25 11:28:45 UTC
I'm using gnome-screenshot outside of the usual gnome-shell environment (in case it matters, I'm using my own wm based on Mutter[0]). Since updating to 3.16 there is a regression in the interactive mode that seriously hurts the use of gnome-screenshot: the fallback flash's frame (for lack of better terms) does not dissapear from the screen anymore and thus overlaps the dialog that appears after the screenshot has been made.

It appears that Ikey Doherty has also noticed this and has written a crude patch that entirely disables the flash[1]. However, I don't think this is a solution you want to apply.

I suspect the timeout[2] for the cheese flash never fires. I would like to investigate more than simply poke the source, but I have to much work in real life already.

You can comment out the gtk_widget_set_visual call to fix this too. I don't see any visual problems so perhaps it's not required any more.

It's been five years.

If this still happens, I strongly recommend opening a new issue on GitLab:
