GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 748342
Dead Preferences window after editing shortcuts
Last modified: 2015-09-26 01:31:03 UTC
1. Open Preferences -> Shortcuts 2. Change any of the shortcut keys 3. Close the Preferences window 4. Open Preferences again The prefs window is totally dead. No mouse, no keyboard input, can't even close window. g-t or Gtk+ bug?? (Ubuntu Vivid)
Vivid's vte + g-t packages work correctly. The ones I compile from git are buggy.
Is that gtk+ from ubuntu, or gtk+ from upstream (no ubuntu patches) ?
Ubuntu. I only compile vte and g-t (and a few irrelevant ones, e.g. mc) for myself, leave the gtk+ stack intact. If I compile the same g-t as shipped by Ubuntu (manually with ./configure ...; not with their packaging mechanism) then it's also buggy. So it's not the g-t version, but some compile flag or something like that. I'll try to track it down.
Does this happen only with the prefs window, or also with the profile prefs, or the about dialogue ?
Happens with the profile prefs and about dialogue too. You don't even have to close the prefs window, e.g. open prefs, modify shortcut (leave it open), open about -> broken. I don't even have to actually modify the shortcut key. Double click on it to change ("New accelerator..." appears) and then press Escape to cancel -> broken.
Also broken with a different user under gnome-shell or icewm.
Can you check if the prefs window works now with master after commit d7f0f1888104320d7aedc198099afc46ba770979 ? If so, I can do the same for the profile prefs (but not the about dialogue since that's from gtk+).
Nope, doesn't fix it.
Can't reproduce on Wily. Closing; must have been a Gtk+ bug.
