GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 748195
GDM doesn't show available LDAP users
Last modified: 2018-05-24 11:10:19 UTC
Created attachment 302007 [details] journalctl output Since the latest Gnome 3.16 update, GDM doesn't show my available users. My users are LDAP users and I can sign-in with them. If I sign-out with an already logged in user then GDM shows the list of available users. I've also the problem that the avatar I've chose for my user will not be saved. Every time I sign-in I must chose the picture again. I'm not sure if this is related to https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=746079

I think that's the intended default behavior... remote users only appear if they have logged in on the computer at least once. Otherwise you have to sign in with 'Not Listed?' I don't think there's any way to configure this. I'm not sure why that behavior would have changed due to the 3.14 -> 3.16 update. > I've also > the problem that the avatar I've chose for my user will not be saved. Every > time I sign-in I must chose the picture again. Please file a separate bug for this. Also, what distribution are you using? I do not know what is wrong, but it is possible that remote avatar display requires gvfs. If so, this is likely only broken in Debian currently, but going to be broken in the next gdm by 5e81151a1479b87bd91b435b9ee209fd16a47d27. Not sure if that is likely to be the issue, though.
