Created attachment 301436 [details] Debug file this issue related Dear Joanie, I see an issue with Nautilus 3.16 version related. If I pressing Super+F10 key combination and select preferences menu item, Orca doesn't present the preferences dialog content. This issue possible a Nautilus related issue, because if I press ALT+F6 keystroke, the preferences dialog content Orca correct presents both braille display and speech. Testcase with me always works: 1. Launch Files application. 2. Press Super+F10 keystroke, and select preferences menu item. Expected result: Because a new popup dialog presents the screen, Orca need speaks and presents braille the preferences dialog content. Actual result: With speech output I nothing hear. The braille display I see opened a dialog window, but not seeing the dialog content. My environment related informations: OS: Manjaro Linux 0.8.12 GNOME community edition Manjaro branch: Unstable Nautilus version: 3.16.0 Orca version: latest gnome-3-16 branch version Affected Orca branches: master, gnome-3-16 I attaching a debug.out file. The interesting part beginning with the 3228 line. After the 3397 line I see following type events: ----------> QUEUEING OBJECT:CHILDREN-CHANGED:ADD This event repeating before the 3403 line. ----------> QUEUEING OBJECT:STATE-CHANGED:SHOWING This event queue beginning the 3404 line, and ending the 3460 line. I can confirm the behavior -- it happens to me without Orca running: When the gnome-shell menu is closed after having chosen Preferences, I can see the Nautilus Preferences dialog on screen, but it is not the active window. In other words, Tabbing doesn't move me around in the Preferences dialog because I'm not in the Preferences dialog. I can get into the Preferences dialog, as you pointed out, with Alt+F6. I can also reproduce this behavior/problem with Gedit, so I'm guessing this is a bug in GNOME Shell. Regardless, Orca is doing the correct thing given the circumstances: Orca should only present dialog content when you're in that dialog. Therefore, I'm going to close this as NOTABUG. If there's not already a bug filed against GNOME Shell regarding making Preferences dialogs the active window when choosing them via the app menu, could you please do so? Thanks!
Hi Joanie, I reported this issue with gnome-shell related in bug 747768 report. Attila
