This seems to be a bug as it is not such a useful thing and may confuse some people as it brings you to the path behind the fake path "trash:///". The thing is that when I move a folder into Trash, and then go into the folder while it is still in Trash, instead of the path at the top being "trash:///Folder", it becomes the actual real path to that folder's location in your actual file system and becomes ("<username>" replaced by your actual username): "/home/<username>/.local/share/Trash/files/Folder". This is not such a problem, but for the sake of perfection I think that it should not take you to the actual location in the file system, but stay with the fake Trash path.

There is also no way of emptying the Trash in the location it takes you to, and you would have to go back, but this could confuse some people.

I have also reported the bug here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1434880

That's still an issue on 3.18.3, new report/comment on https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1526794

"If a user opens a folder in trash:/// and then navigates up, he ends up in ~/.local/share/Trash/files rather than in trash:///. If he then tries to delete said folder, it simply gets moved to trash again, since Nautilus does not recognize ~/.local/share/Trash/files as a special location.

Steps to reproduce:
1) In Nautilus, create a folder names 'foo'
2) Delete 'foo' by moving to trash
3) Open trash
4) Open 'foo' in trash
5) Navigate up
6) Delete 'foo'

Expected behaviour:
'foo' is permanently deleted

Observed behaviour:
'foo' is moved from trash to trash, i.e. nothing happens"

This is still an issue in GNOME 3.20.

I don't know what was happening previously on my GNOME 3.20 installation, but this issue seems to have been fixed now and no longer affects me.
